Beginnings (Part I)

Text: Job 8:7

Your beginnings will seem humble, so prosperous your future be.

Beginnings are always the foundation of everything. Before the world was created, it was formless and empty but after six days of creation, how very beautiful must the world be.

The first computer wasn’t that very techie. There were commands that are hard to do but who would know that it would progress that much. Now, we do not just have computers, we have laptops, ipads and tablets and they are user-friendly that even a grade school kid could easily use them.

The first telephone was unique but who would tell that telepad would be invented and not only that, but now, we also have android phones.

Now, read this verse and you’ll be more amazed that beginnings should not be despised:

Exodus 1:7 but the Israelites were exceedingly fruitful; they multiplied greatly, increased in numbers and became so numerous that the land was filled with them.

Where did this great numbers of the Israelites start? It started with a vision. Abraham had no child and he was well advanced in years. He thought that he would not have any child anymore but God gave him a vision and he took him outside and he asked him to look up the heavens and count the starts-if indeed he could count them and God said, “So shall your offspring be”- (Geneses 15:5).

Abraham’s descendants started with a vision and he believed the word of God that it would happen. Abraham’s beginning was small but his descendants multiplied greatly and became exceedingly fruitful. Paul even said in Galatians 3:29, “If you belong to Christ, then you are Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise.” You were part of Abraham’s vision when he had no child yet. Isn’t it that amazing? His beginning was small, but, look at our numbers now, It cannot be counted.

Prayer: Lord, thank you for this encouragement. Thank you that everything has its small beginnings but it has the potential to multiply, become great in numbers and become fruitful. Help us in our beginnings. Help us not to despise what you have given us to begin with and help us to be exceedingly fruitful and very successful. Amen
